Le Petit Melbourne is another story of successful French entrepreneurship in Melbourne…

When young professional men or women arrive in Melbourne to follow their partners, it is not always easy for them to pursue their own career paths. Adapting to new circumstances of life is always disruptive.

As the Honorary Consul of France in Victoria, I am pleased to say that I have encountered many young French men and women willing to reassess their lives and to take risk s… quite a number of them decide to start a business, sometimes in a very different area to what they had done before.

In this case, Sandra Calvet has a background in marketing and Melanie Guers in event management so they naturally combined their talents to create an event management enterprise, “Atelier Events”. And as these two young women keep sparkling with novel ideas, the concept of “le Petit Melbourne” slowly emerged… The idea of listing all the French or French-linked businesses of Melbourne in a lovely guidebook, easy to consult, is a great one.

The French Community of Melbourne is vibrant, some people having been here for many decades, and others having just arrived. “Le Petit Melbourne” will become, I am sure, a solid reference tool for the many Francophones and the Francophiles of Melbourne.

Good luck to Sandra and Melanie and “ bienvenue au Petit Melbourne”!

Bien cordialement,

Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie
